 | Grace Werts Evans Grace Werts Evans was born in the Jolly Street community of Newberry County, and is a graduate of Prosperity High School and Newberry College. In 1965 she married C. Eugene Evans. They had two children, Gena and Greg. In 1982 she and Gene purchased McSwain Funeral Home. She became a funeral director in 1986 and since 1996 has been the President of the firm. Grace is a member of First Baptist Church, and in her spare time she enjoys reading and cooking. |
Gregory E. Evans Gregory E. Evans was born in Newberry, and is a graduate of Newberry High School and the Gupton Jones College of Funeral Service of Atlanta. He is an Eagle Scout and a member of First Baptist Church. He is married to the former Denise Wicker. He is National Board licensed funeral director, embalmer and S.C. licensed pre-need life insurance agent. Greg is the Vice-President of the firm and is a sports enthusiast. |  |
 | L. Heath "Pete" Simpson L. Heath "Pete" Simpson is a native of York County, and is a graduate of Newberry College and the Fayetteville Community College. He is a member and ordained deacon of Glenn Street Baptist Church. He is a National Board certified licensed funeral director and embalmer and has been employed by the firm since 1986. Pete is also employed as the part-time office administrator of the Newberry Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church. |
Betty Baker Carter Betty Baker Carter is a life-long resident of Newberry, and is a graduate of Newberry High School and Converse College. She was married to the late Dr. Sydney Carter. Betty retired as a public school teacher and has been employed with the firm since 1991. She is an active member of Central United Methodist Church and is the mother of a son, Richard and a granddaughter, Elizabeth. |  |
 | Raymond E. Smith Raymond E. Smith was born and raised in the Mt. Pleasant Community of Newberry County where continues to reside. He is a graduate of Pomaria High School and attended Columbia Business College. He retired after 30 years of service from the S.C. Department of Revenue as an individual state tax examiner. He is a very active member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church where he is a member of the church choir, the 55+ Group and numerous boards and committees. Raymond has been employed with the firm since 1988. |
Benjamin F. Cromer Benjamin F. Cromer is a Pomaria native, and a graduate of Mid-Carolina High School and attended Clemson University and has taken several horticulture classes at Midlands Technical College. He is an avid sports fan especially for Clemson football, and enjoys playing golf in his spare time. Benjie is married to the former Shannon Johnston of Belmont, NC and now resides in Little Mountain, SC. He began his employment with the firm while a high school student in 1987 |  |
 | Frances G. "Jerry" Satterwhite Frances G. "Jerry" Satterwhite is native of the Bush River Community of Newberry County, and is a graduate of Newberry High School and the New England Institute of Boston, MA. Jerry began his career in funeral service with McSwain Funeral Home prior to going to mortuary school in Massachusetts. He retired from Johnston Funeral Home of Massachusetts and returned to Newberry in 1997, and began part-time employment with our firm that same year as a funeral director and embalmer. He and his wife, Jean, are members of St. Mark Catholic Church. |
John Jackson "Bill" McSwain John Jackson "Bill" McSwain was born in Newberry and is the son of the late Lee McSwain and Agnes McSwain Wallace founders of McSwain Funeral Home. He is a graduate of Newberry High School and the University of Minnesota. He retired in 1991 as manager of Bobo Funeral Home in Spartanburg. He and his wife the former Julia Boozer now reside on Lake Murray. He is the proud father of two children and several grandchildren. He has been employed part-time with our firm since 1996 as a licensed funeral director and embalmer. Bill is an active member of Aveleigh Presbyterian Church. |  |
 | Joe H. Welborn Joe H. Welborn was born in Newberry, and is a graduate of Newberry High School and the Cincinnati College of Embalming, and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Upon completion of mortuary college Joe was employed as a funeral director and embalmer at McSwain Funeral Home. He later went to work for the Newberry Post Office from which he retired. Joe has been employed part-time with our firm since 1996. He enjoys working with stained glass and through his talent has reproduced numerous historical buildings of Newberry County. He also has written a book on the history of the American Legion and is a member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer. |
